Cremation Auckland

At Lagoon View Funeral Homes, we offer the lowest cremation prices currently available. In New Zealand, the rate of cremation is around 70 to 80%, with many benefits both cultural and practical.

Benefits of Cremation Services

1. Cremation is acceptable in many of the world’s cultures, societies and religions

2. It provides a chance to be returned to somewhere in nature - the family and loved ones of the deceased can decide upon a place significant to both them and the deceased, and scatter their ashes - a simple yet powerfully symbolic gesture.

3. It is an environmentally conscious send-off

4. The deceased’s remains are sealed in a portable urn, making it both easier and cheaper to transport your loved one to far away relatives so that they make conduct their own ceremony, or to a significant and relevant overseas resting place

5. It is affordable and less hassle than a traditional burial in the ground

The Cremation process - common questions and their answers from the FDANZ

What can I put in the casket?

Families and friends may place a variety of items into the casket or shroud to be cremated with their loved one. Photos and letters, sports & recreation items such as their favourite tennis racquet, fishing rod or golf club are all common items that are cremated to symbolically represent something about your loved one – perhaps their favourite hobby, or a cherished memory captured in a photo, returned to nature alongside them. Most kinds of personal items are permitted. What shouldn’t go in the casket are potentially explosive items such as aerosol cans or glass bottles.

What goes into the cremator?

Contrary to popular belief, it is not only the body that is cremated. Everything around and within the casket or shroud is cremated, down to the floral wreaths & arrangements that may be resting on top.

Whose ashes do you get back?

A common, harmful myth is that multiple people are cremated at once. This is false. At Lagoon View Funeral Services and elsewhere in the country, strict regulations are in place to ensure that respectful, legal and proper cremation funeral services are followed, so that you may get your loved ones’ ashes back and only theirs.

Types of cremation service

Cremations can take place before or after the funeral service has been held. If you decide to cremate before the service, ashes can be present there, or alternatively you can have a traditional funeral service with the casket present and a cremation to follow.

Funeral or memorial services can take place at most venues, whether it be a funeral home and/or chapel, a marae, a church, yours or your family’s private residence, a sports club – in short, most indoor or outdoor venues, with no requirement for you to proceed on towards the crematorium if you would rather not to.
